Stewart co-founded the club with Nelson in 2009, but left after 3 years to be the assistant varsity coach at Waukee High School. Shannon attended Urbandale High School where was a varsity starter and earned all-conference, and third team all-state honors in volleyball, while also lettering in track, soccer and basketball. She was a member of the 2000 IPVA team that qualified for Jr Nationals. Shannon continued her career at Simpson College where she was a 4 year starter and letter winner playing outside and middle hitter. She was named Iowa Conference MVP in 2003, as well as Iowa Conference player of the week several times, 1st team all-conference, 1st team all-district and 1st team all-region throughout her career . Her junior year she was named 3rd Team All-American. In the fall of 2015, she was inducted into the Simpson College Hall of Fame where she still ranks in the top 10 in career blocks, aces, kills, hitting percentage and digs, and is among 1 of 7 seven players in school history to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. Shannon began her coaching career as a club coach for Indianola Club while still at Simpson. She coached at Urbandale Club before taking the sophomore coaching job at Dowling for a year, then coaching at Waukee High School as the JV and varsity assistant coach from 06-07. She took a few years before running to the assistant varsity position at Waukee in 2011. She ran the Waukee Volleyball Club for 3 years until she left the Waukee program. She returned to PowerPlex in the winter of 2016 as a roaming coach, while assisting with the Jr League and Evolution programs. She is very excited to be back coaching a team this winter and continuing to watch the program grow.
