About Sophia

Sophia was a 4 year starter at Van Meter, playing right side and middle throughout her career. Her senior year earned her a unanimous 1st team All-District honor capping off a great athletic career. Sophia played all 4 years of high school club at PowerPlex, two years being on the top national team. She continued her athletic career at Loras College as a middle blocker until a shoulder injury forced her to quit playing college.

She then transferred to Grand View University to finish out her college career. Sophia turned her passion for volleyball from playing into coaching during college. Since joining PowerPlex in 2019, she has mainly coached 15U. In 2024 Sophia and Alyssa Mueller’s 14u team placed 4th at regionals, eventually earning them a bid to USAV Nationals. They competed in the Liberty division, placing 23rd.

  • Van Meter High School: 2nd team All-Conference, 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-District, 4 year Iowa PowerPlex athlete

  • Loras College: 1 year volleyball participant

  • Grand View University: Bachelor’s in Elementary education, Master’s in School Counseling - in process
