about melanie

Melanie grew up playing high school and club volleyball in SE Minnesota and St Charles Iowa. She continued her playing career at Waldorf College, where she played for 3 years. 


Melanie starting coach right out of high school at Rochester Community Technical College, and Southern Minnesota Volleyball Club. Her next move was to become the head coach at Ellsworth Community College where she reached the highest finish in school history. She also coached at Iowa Heart during her time there. She was with the Valley Tiger program after that, being a part of the 6 x state qualifying program, with 2 state runner up finishes. She was coaching at CIS and Ignit during that time, being a 3 time national qualifier. Melanie joined Iowa PowerPlex in 2024. In 2025, Melanie and Shannon Wieland’s 17u team earned 3 USAV Nationals bids. Their first bid was earned at Sunshine in the USA Division by placing 3rd. The second bid came when they won Northern Lights in the USA Division. They increased their bid to a National bid by winning Iowa Regionals.
